Who we are
Today in The Milky Way is a project that is a culmination of a lifelong wonder at the possibilities of writing
Today in The Milky Way is an online lit Zine founded in the summer of 2023 with the goal of being an intersection of poetry, prose, and visual art. As with the actual milky way, the galaxy of writing is a big place, and by choosing a seasonal theme the focus will be refined to a common thread between works.
Submissions
We would love to showcase your work! If you are thinking of submitting, send an email to themilkywaylit@gmail.com with your work and we will respond in a timely manner, hopefully.
All authors and artists retain full ownership of their works. Simultaneous submissions are welcome. We’re just happy to be here.
Themes
Each season there will be a new theme for the Zine, starting with the Autumn ’23 theme being Hope. Seems fitting for the first season of the Zine!
Send any Poetry, Fiction, art or photography that you think instills a feeling of hope, portrayals of its power, or its effects. Hope is a powerful thing, which is why that is the first theme for The Milky Way
Purpose
Writing, talking about writing, and reading are what we’re about. Every Season, there is going to be a new realm of focus and theme for what will be published. For the first season of Autumn ’23, the theme is Hope.
This may not be a prestigious publication, however the care for quality work is here, and with the goal of elevating and proudly displaying quality work.
Speaking of quality work, what kind of stuff are we looking for? Art is subjective. What you may send in could be your zaniest idea brought out of a dark corner of your mind, but if it fits our theme, we’ll include it.
The Editor
Andrew Schneider is a student writer at the Ohio State University. The term “Editor” is a bit scary, so around here we like to think of it more like “Chill guy who’s gonna read and post your stuff”
Andrew enjoys reading and writing, regular submissions of his own work played a key part in inspiration for the creation of the Milky Way Zine. Don’t worry though, as hopefully there won’t be too much of his own work published here, he thinks that’s tacky.
